Getting Familiar with Therapy
If you've perused the PPC website, you're probably aware that my therapeutic approach focuses on guiding you toward self-discovery, healing, and personal growth. Most importantly, and this is something I repeatedly say, I aim to provide a safe space for you to explore your emotions and thoughts. But since the first session can cover a lot of groundwork, here's a little information to prepare you!

So, you're going to your first session...
Meeting a new person to talk about your life can be daunting, especially online. I get it. Being vulnerable with a stranger takes real courage—and you're doing it! So, in light of your strong decision, I want to say thank you for trusting me with this opportunity, and I look forward to holding a safe space for you!
For your first session, all you have to do is bring your authentic self, an open mind, and any questions or concerns you might have. This session will cover a few 'housekeeping' topics—super fun, I know—but you can expect us to cover important topics like Limits of Confidentiality, Scheduling, and Billing. I do this to ensure complete transparency and help minimize potential service hiccups, miscommunications, or lapsed sessions. As you commit to healing and self-development, I want you to feel confident and knowledgeable about your options.
Please know that if questions come to mind at any time during your therapeutic journey, don't hesitate to ask!

Mindfulness
Fosters our ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by our surroundings.
Nature
Connecting with nature enables us to cope with stress and supports overall well-being. So the saying "go touch grass" isn't too bad an idea.
Grounding
Helps us realign our bodies to the here and now and decompress from overwhelming feelings or high levels of stress and anxiety.
Self-Care
Prioritizing sleep, balancing our diets, moving our bodies, and even setting boundaries are types of self-care. Self-care doesn't mean "Treat Yo' Self" per se. But sometimes it can!
